А. Н. Туполев

Aviation Science and Engineering Complex named after Tupolev.

History of the enterprise goes back to 1922, when a Comission for Building of Metalic Airplanes was organised in TsAGI . The head of this Comission was Tupolev A.N., the head of TsAGI Department which later became an A/C Design Bureau as well as a production facility. This TsAGI Department, which had later different names, was developing and building of all-metal airplanes. In 1936 the Design Department and the experimental aircraft production facility were separated from TsAGI and became an Aviation facility № 156 of Narcomtyazhprom. In 1938-41 the territory of the facility was occupied by NKVD TsKB-29 where worked a lot of aviation specialists subjected to repression, including Tupolev himself. In July 1941 the enterprise was replaced to Omsk, and only in the middle of 1943 was again transferred to Moscow.
